Atty. Agamata is a graduate of the University of the Philippines where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree (Class of 2007), as well as his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art Studies (Class of 2002).

As a student at the State University, he was actively involved in debate and campus politics. He was a founding member of one of the University’s student political parties and served as a Department Representative in the College of Arts and Letters Student Council. He was also a member of the UP Law Debate Union and participated in various debate tournaments such as the University Open Debate Tournament sponsored by the Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Pi Sigma Open where he was part of the Champion Team in 2006.
